Dyson DC04 very difficult to recline.
« on: March 18, 2017, 06:15:46 pm »
Hello all,

I've just replaced the motor and drive belt on my DC04 (none clutch model). As far as I can tell I've fitted everything back correctly and it works fine however, when trying to change from upright to reclined, it's very difficult and there's a loud 'crack' as the machine reclines. I've stripped it down again, apart from taking the motor out and I can't see anything causing any obstructions. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks,

Mal.

Pictures:

I'd say a picture of the bottom end of the chassis,
the inside of the head with the brushroll housing attached
changeover valve
and it all together if you can but not entirely nessasary

Sorted. It was the 'upright lock' A squirt of WD40 and all is now good. Thanks everyone.

If it were clutched i'd say to check the clutch cover, I had that issue on an Absolute, removed and reinstalled the cover and it was fine after.
