Excellent! Always the internal hose. Can't remember the last time I re-used one

Oddly I recovered a DC07 from a hedgerow yesterday (really!)and used the tube from that machine - the new tube has now arrived, but I'll stick with the hedgerow one for now. I also got the base plate - cracked but with the screws intact. I'll have a go at removing them to use one in the baseplate that is ok but missing a screw. The DC07 looks to be broken and has no hose or tools - I have removed the brush spindle as it looks ok and one of the inspection tubes. Given that I have a spare DC04 already, is anything worth recovering?

I'll have the motor retaining plastic ring and the two motor rubbers. I'll swap you something you need for them.

Sounds like a plan then, plus you can have lots of spares to use in the future (wand and hose are rare and £££ now, and the wand does break easily!)
Damnit, If I knew the wand and hose were rare, i would of kept the brand new looking wand from 2001 and the hose from 1998 that was in mint condition!

aha - this might be relevant.

The old machine (absolute) has a self adjusting head. The 'new' one doesnt. When the old machine angle is changed, the head stays parallel to the floor. With the new one the head doesnt do this. So, with the 'new' one as the wand handle is lowered (backwards) the rear of the head moves away from the floor (out of parallel). The difference is that the back of the old head stays approx a finger's width away from the floor irrespective of the angle of the wand, whereas the new one starts off at one finger's width but increases to at least double as the machine tips back.

When I press on the rear of the head of the new machine it moves down to the floor - but not automatically.

I guess that this would alter the suction of the new machine if it isn't parallel to the carpet? Can this be fixed without swapping the heads over?

thanks again

All DC04's have a self adjusting head - just the old mdoels such as the absolute had a sticker saying so, but the later models such as the brushcontrol didn't.
Just saying because I see this lots
