Sebo BS36 out for the bin men !
« on: March 21, 2017, 05:09:34 pm »
Hi all,

Just found this Sebo BS36 put out for the bin men, a quick knock on the door resulted in it coming home with me.
I know nothing about these machines other than a very brief glimpse of comments on this forum.

Hi all,

First thing first after a quick check across the mains lead to test for dead shorts the vacuum was plugged in and it ran fine but with little suction. Checking the filters proved they were both reasonably OK and the bag was almost empty so it was off with the main body/motor housing and have a look at the outlet from the brush roller.....Blocked ! After cleaning it out I found a nail low down in the outlet wedged straight across the centre, obviously this was causing all the fluff to wrap round it and eventually to block. The nail was so badly lodged that I had to cut it into two with side cutters to get it out.

Next job is to clean the whole vac inside and out.

The photo shows the brush box air outlet at the bottom of the picture where it was blocked.

Not only an amazing trash find but now a "FULLY WORKING" amazing trash find !  :king:
It's been given a good internal wash down and dry (not the motor before anyone asks  ;)) and put back together again and given a good testing round the house....Spot on perfect !

I shall take it apart again tomorrow to give it a thorough external clean and polish then I guess it will enter daily service around the home.   ;D

Super trash find!  :icon_nod:

I never find anything like that.

A few weeks ago I was driving somewhere with my 8 year old daughter. About half a mile later she said she saw a vacuum at the end of an entry (alley). We went the same route back, I stopped and collected it, it was a crappy old Vax. Almost nothing on it bar a motor that we maybe got a net tenner for. She got a couple of quid for her money box for being observant and now she is scouring the alleys as we drive about hoping to swell her coffers. Finding a similar Sebo must be worth a tenner if she spots one, I'll tell her this tale to keep up her mojo.  :-*

I can assure you that that was a very very rare find with my luck ! My luck normally goes the other way.  ::).......

A few months ago one of my neighbours stuck a Dyson DC07 out for the scrap man, me being me thought it must be totally knackered so didn't bother with it. Anyway the scrap man took it and half an hour later my neighbour came round for a cuppa and said the vac was chucked out because they couldn't find the U-bend for it....two flipping quids worth to make it good again  :'(

I scored a DC07 and Vax something at the tip before the lady took it out of her car on Sunday, that was cool.

The only trash find I've had in years was a horrible Hoover something POS. Bought it home, checked it ran OK, spent 15 minutes vacuuming off the filter, fitted a new random right size belt, wiped it down and it sold for £25 the next day on facebook!

There was a vax cylinder thing posted up on facebook as free by some bins the other day. Tape all over the floor tool, I didn't feel the 4 mile drive to it was worth it. Offered to clean the filter for whoever got it though if they bought it round, that gained some likes.

:o Wow!

My best trash find was probs a Dc07 allergy when I was a kid, or 75% of a DC14 Vroom last year...
