DC07 Suction problem
« on: March 25, 2017, 12:18:11 pm »
Hello all,

I'm looking at a friends DC07 (clutch version) which has great suction at the wand end but, little if any suction when in the reclined position. I thought I'd cracked it when I found that the brush roller bearings were siezed. I've replaced those with new but still no suction when reclined. There are no blockages anywhere and filters are clean. Has anyone any idea what the fix is?

TIA

Mal.

Have you removed the internal hose to check if there is suction there?

Thanks for the reply. I thought you had solved it as when I checked the internal hose there were two large splits in it. I've fitted a new hose but still no suction. I'm wondering if the cyclone itself may be blocked?

If you have suction from the wand / hose there won't be anything wrong with the cyclone as you'd loose suction from both ends.

Remove one end of the internal hose, put the vacuum in the reclined position. Is there suction?

Hi, just tried that and there is good suction. I suppose it must be the wrong internal hose that isn't fitting properly. Time to order a new one.

First check that the brush is spinning freely and it's not slowing down when pressure is supplied. Next check that the soleplate is fitted correctly and is flush.

If these are all correct it must be down to the internal hose. When the vacuum is being reclined, check from the side of the machine that the rear of the soleplate is sitting flush with the floor. If a cheap internal hose is used or it isn't installed correctly it can apply to much pressure to the brush housing causing the rear of the soleplate to lift and loose suction.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that. I'm waiting the arrival of a new (hopefully better fitting) internal hose. I'll let you know if that solves the problem.

Make sure the push end goes onto the main unity and the screw in end onto the brush housing

New internal hose arrived but, it will not fit onto the brush housing. I'm assuming this must be a 'compatible' hose which simply isn't the right size to 'screw' onto the brush housing. Anyone any ideas where is the best place to get a genuine (one that fits) internal hose?

Warm it up in a cup of warm water, it will be more pliable and easier to install.

But yes, I would recommend not using cheap internal hoses. They aren't worth the money.

Do MVacs sell them?

Make sure its not the clutched 04 one - they differ

MalcyD has a DC07. The internal hoses don't differ for clutched and non-clutched machines.
