Dyson cordless battery question?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
« on: April 11, 2017, 11:28:43 pm »
I need a new battery for my DC34 Animal the battery on is days it's "1300 mAh"

and there's onw ith "more power" on eBay with the same voltage (22.2V) with 2200 mAh

So what difference does it make?!

I literally have no idea what it is. Is it the runtime?

There's also a 1500 mAh one on eBay which I'm more tempted with since it's closer specified to the genuine one of mine

My understanding is that the milliamp hour rating has to do with the overall capacity of a battery to store energy. From what I understand a higher mAh will generally run for longer  ;)

On the subject of cordless Dysons: My DC44 was working till I stored it for about a month, I got it out and it would no longer work, the charger light would flash, what does this mean???

I'm not totally sure but if I remember correctly that indicates some sort of battery malfunction  :(

It's rather straightforward.  If the vacuum pulls 100mAh, with no accounting for energy loss within the battery itself, a 1300mAh battery would run it for 13 hours.  Likely, it pulls 13,000mAh, or 1/10th of an hour, or 6 minutes.

So, a 2200mAh battery would last almost twice as long, in theory, but many of those eBay batteries are poorly constructed (i.e. might have the materials required to hit that power capacity, but never can because they're trash) or are outright lies on capacity.  Some also have poor charging circuitry (see: exploding hoverboards, Galaxy Note 7).

A bigger battery, if of good quality, is not a problem at all.  It might be bigger or heavier, but it's not a problem to give the vacuum more juice.  Differing voltage would be a problem, however...

I want to eventually add more cells to my DC35.  The battery will hang down a bit and weigh twice as much but last 10+ minutes on high.

Cool but I'd rather own a V6/V8 tbh :))
Or buy another battery for 2X the runtime as a safer option?

Update: I don't need a new battery! I cleaned the terminals and it works fine :))

The DC34 Animal: I  have the handheld tool kit (Handheld hose, stubborn dirt brush, little soft dusting brush, mattress tool) along with the mini motorised tool and the crevice/combination tools.

I love it! It's freaking good. Very handy, stylish and powerful. I now need a DC59/V6, V8 and I'm good to go

The bigger the MAH the longer it lasts -
On paper a 2400MAH battery will run twice the time of a 1200MAH battery... The more MAH the longer - MAH being the capacity

Who we bought our DC14 off, they had a dyson cordless and they were compaling it only lasts 10 mins, but still want the DC14 gone even though it last much longer...
