DC59 cutting out after 10-15 seconds
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:17:25 am »
I have a Dyson DC59 and it has had most of the problems listed on the forum. 2 weeks out of guarantee it started cutting out when on max after being on for only 10-15 seconds. It won't turn back on until it's been left in it's charging dock for a while. It is ok when used on lower setting. Any suggestions on fix please?

I am instantly drawn to a new battery because the older handhelds had trouble with them, with the same symptoms.

Yep, definitely sounds like the battery. Unfortunately the V6 batteries are just as unreliable as the older models.

Hi,

I seem to have the same problem with my dyson (it says model sv10). I have bought the second new battery and is doing the same thing, which is cutting off after 15 seconds when it's on Max power mode. It doesn't do it on normal settings. I was wondering if it was because it wasn't a dyson own battery? All the filters seem clean and when I test the battery with the meter is shows a nearly full charge. But I don't have a meter to test with load on it.

Would be very grateful if anyone has any pointers so I could get to the bottom of this...  thanks

The filters may be clean, but what about the cyclone? If the airpath is restricted by debris and dust, then the motor will pulse or cut out. It doesn't take much to block a cordless machine, especially in the throat of the bin.
Test it with the cyclone off, if it's OK then that is your problem. If not, then it's a duff battery or failing motor.
