Anyone Seen an Airwatt Meter or Suction Gauge?
« on: May 08, 2017, 03:04:26 pm »
We want an airwatt meter or suction gauge that can be used to test vacuum cleaners.

Ideally a simple gauge or meter with a 32mm tube on the end.

An internet search doesn't show me anything similar to what I need, has anyone seen, got or heard of such a thing?

I've always fancied one for pointless but interesting tests! Their a thing in america, I've seen them on forums. I've seen videos from Numatic where they use them for testing but that looked a big and expensive bit of kit...

Surely it can't be too hard to knock one together? Someone must know what parts would be needed, got any old school fabrication places around you could tap up for knowledge?

I have a theory about increasing the suction in Sebos that I want to test out.

I have been mulling on some kind of gauge that could be belt driven from a dismantled mini turbine tool, but I reckon they must exist someplace.

A water lift gauge then it seems to be like this:

That gives me comparables, but not airwatts. It may do at a push, not especially cheap at about US$85 with shipping and duty.

I'd love to get something like that - I have been making modifications to Dysons for a few months and attempting to create some things that i'm also keeping secret until Wednesday - This kind of thing would be amazing for testing them out with

I've heard of a Baird meter which measures Airflow I believe

Edit: Just found this, it's for Kirbys and is American though so shipping would be pricey for such an item tho  http://www.goodvac.com/AirFlow_Indicator_p/k-acc-airfloindicator.htm
