Right, the DC04 zorbster motor works at half the power with the bin removed. This is due to a switch not being pressed just above the post motor filter. Anyone know what voltage the output is?

Step down transformers are massive so why is the one in the 04 Zorbster so tiny- unless it isn't one?

Maybe it's a speed control to lower the wattage or something?

I'm thinking of nicking it to make a step down transformer...

I'm pretty sure the zorbster toc that steps down 240v to 120v it's will be small - if you think about it an apple iPhone plug for example is prettty small - only the size of the plug itself - they have a tiny step down transformer of 240v input and 5v output

Yes, thanks but I've noticed the more stepped down the voltage is, the smaller tha transformer, for example 240V to 5V is a tiny iphone plug, but 240V to 120V boxes are massive? And they need to power big machinery...

240V to 120V transformers are that size because they are A/C and are able to take more amps and watts. A tiny phone charger will be like 1 amp and are usually DC anyway.

Yeah forgot to mention about the watts, amps, bridge rectifiers (AC to DC) etc...
But as rusty said; phone chargers are usually about 0.5 Amp to 2.5 Amp, which is no-where near enough to power a dyson of around 10 Amps (watts divide voltage - 1200w = 5 amp, 1200 dived 240 = 5)
