It really doesn't matter once it gets to the outlet.  It all winds up being the same wattage being pulled through the lines, regardless of the amperage.

But we get to use thinner cable because of lower amps. Can be a disadvantage but also an advantage.

Well, yeah, but like I said it really doesn't matter for these purposes.  110/220, it is still the same wattage being pulled by the vacuum.   Transmission, engineering and wiring may differ greatly, but it's still $0.11 /kWh (or not, I dunno, whatever).

Agreed, just physics in the end, strange but there you go.

I honestly have no idea why everything is so darn different.  We just need a standard voltage, standard plugs, wiring standards, all worldwide.  Then Tayyab wouldn't be on here asking silly questions about US variants.  He would have already plugged it in, watched it strip the carpet fibers up, put it in a minidress and taken it to dinner like those Realdoll guys.

I think we should have a 12v dc supply in houses for lighting, TV, Radio etc that would save so much energy waisted in transformers and capacitive droppers.

Don't you guys also have a 240v supply for things like water heaters, dryers, cookers etc.

It'd be interesting to see if one main DC converter would be more efficient than a few smaller ones combined with native 110v appliances.  It probably would be, especially if it's well made.

We do.  Generally, it's just a 15A breaker glued to a second 15A breaker.   And when those breakers love each other verrryyy much.....

So, yeah, I think Tayyab is going to be a little miffed at the recent turn of this thread.

This thread is now about the Kenmore vacuum I saw at goodwill for $20 which was missing the soleplate, beaterbar and left wheel.
