Furthermore, the mtr299s have average length carbins anyway but they wear down like all the way quickly so longer carbons would tension the springs more (pushing it further into the armature) and give it a short amount of time as an extended life

That's how I see it, wanna know the difference between the mtr240 and 299

I've been using the MTr299 for ages now- I've used one in my clutch converted DC14 origin with no probs- used a dc04 clutched brush roll housing

Almost a year I've had it- I use it about 1 times a week (I own 5 dysons one for each day (ish) 3 dc04s grey lime, de Stijl, absolute purple lime.1 dc14 origin clutch converted (2005) and 2 dc01- standard and Antarctica solo number 32950,) it gets used for about 20 mins to 3/4 hour each use (I'm very thorough vacuuming). If you want reliable you might want. To get a known reliable motor for now and illnupdate you after a while :)

I've had the skinny now.

Quote
Our MOQ is [redacted] units. The last shipment lasted us [redacted]. I can't really justify buying in that amount of stock. I can get a smaller order via [redacted] but the $ price not far off doubles. Combined with freight and xrate changes since our last order, the only way we could continue is if you (and others who take this motor) would be willing to pay closer to [redacted].

Long and short: It is now too expensive to bring in at the profit it sells for, considering the amount they must buy, the time they take to sell, and the storage space they take up. It's a commercial decision: They can fill that warehouse space with stuff that sells faster at a larger profit.

On the 299:

Quote
They have been improved, we've tried to improve the quality of the copper windings, we think the defect rate (which in % terms was already very low) has dropped.

Based on that, the 240KK is gone. Long live the 299. Times change. We must change with them.

If a few folks can take 500-1000 units - we could, but it's doubtful many others could - I can get them brought in again. The folks in the trade that want better quality units at more money is minimal.

We have about 15 left, so I doubt we will see out the weekend.

A sad day.

It always seemed to be faulty windings that killed off the 299's so fingers crossed.
