MTR240-KK Now discontinued

Just rang Quаltex to order some other parts and found out that the MTR240KK is now dicontinued, with the MTR299 taking its place. They say that this has been improved though.

MTR299 will remain at the same price. I know lmelectrical on eBay (direct from Quаltex) are currently charging £12.99. Just ordered a few myself.

WHAT?!?! I want a Dyson motor that will last a minimum of 5 years of daily use though! The Mtr240 surely does that, but the Mtr299 has been branded the shit one. If it has improved shouldnt they give it a new name?! I can't afford to stockpile on mtr240s at  the moment... >:(

I agree the 299 has a bad rep. I have used them loads for dysons to sell.I have found them to last 2 years and their still going. I only wanted the 240 for a dc04 I'm doing up to keep.

Deffo, aslong as they sound like the normal genuine ones, lasta minimum of 5 years and have the same suction (or better) that would make me happy

Last time they discontinued the 240KK I helped convince them to bring it back.

The word is they discontinued the 240KK as they must buy many thousands at a time and they were not selling fast enough.

We had the last 80 odd recently but haven't many left.

I'll ask the question of the top man at Q and see what I can learn.

Just spoke to Quаltex again. The new 299 will have longer carbons and a better quality armature. In theory this will make it last longer.
