First DC01!
« on: August 14, 2017, 07:30:20 pm »
Hello folks just introducing myself to the forum, just got my first DC01!

It's an Antarctica Solo one, given to me for free when doing a house clearance, in pretty rough cosmetic shape but the motor is good and smooth and the suction seems fine too.

Just couldn't bring myself to scrap it so a new sole plate, bin catch and set of tools are on their way to me now.

The old chap who owned it before did a variety of interesting bodges I've had to fix (plastics "fixed" by sticking a strip of copper to them with rubber cement, a luggage strap holding the bin on, etc etc) but it's not bad for its age really

Anyway will be a great workhorse for round the house (though it has a habit of blowing fluff across the floor rather than picking it up), lots more interesting than a newer one! Hope to find a nice condition DA001 or early DC01 to make pretty now :)

Very nice!

Had a driving test the other dayand drove past a house with a purple and yellow Dyson washing machine front cover/panel being thrown out, it was still there a week later too

Thanks!

:( that's a sad story, wonder what could have been wrong with it. (Though the purple front ones are a bit gopping) Shame you can't just pop them in the back of the car like the vacs haha. It's an awesome machine, huge drum and I've never seen such a thorough wash either
