Author Topic: Washable HEPA filter clogged solid after going in washing machine (Read 3882 times)

Just put my DC33 HEPA filter through the washing machine on a 30 wash, with a small amount of powder, and an extra rinse (rinsed 3 times in total) plus a thorough rinse under the tap

Now it seems completely blocked solid and is almost pushing the filter cover off its hinges when I switch the machine on.

It's been drying for a good 24 hours on a heated clothes airer - could it just need more drying out or could it not have been rinsed thoroughly enough? Or could it just be too knackered to use now?

I think it might not yet be fully dry - (don't laugh but I often dry things out this way) I gave it 10 seconds in the microwave to see if it would start steaming and it did - so back onto the drying rack it goes!

Just as a disclaimer I'm not condoning drying out your filters (or anything else) in the microwave, it's a very silly idea!

Will take at least 24 hours but more like 48 to dry out,

Yup my mistake, thought 24 hours on a heated rail would be more than enough. Few blasts in the microwave (which I do not recommend doing under any circumstances) and it was fully dried out and flowing air nicely again, well as nicely as a HEPA filter ever does
