Belt lifter tool
« on: August 25, 2017, 08:35:39 PM »
Am I doing anything wrong?

I bought a belt lifter tool Saturday and it arrived yesterday (Thursday) from ManchesterVacs on eBay - I used it twice on my DC14 to get used to it and all was good, when I used it today the handle snapped and I was wondering If i was doing anything wrong? followed the exact procedure the instructions stated.
laid the belt lifter in the brushroll housing - pulled up on the end of the belt furthest away from me first and hooked it over and it just snapped?

Wondering if I am doing anything wrong or did I just get a faulty item? the actual belt holer is perfect however the handle paint did come off a bit as soon as i touched it?

Cheers

Probably just a faulty weld.

I was reading too fast and thought your DC14 handle snapped in use after using the belt lifter and I thought WTF that's probably the most robust Dyson ever made

DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.

My DC14 is excellent - found a trash find yesterday - nieghbour over the road put it out - sneaked over and grabbed it, chassis was snapped in two and the cleaner head was so brittle it snapped as soon as i touched it so now I have a purple and yellow DC14 from my clutch converted dc14 origin and the dc14 animal (early) trash find

Do you need a replacement handle? Reply the order confirmation email if so.

Failing which, a spot weld is your friend if you have a welder.
