Sounds pretty obvious what the problem is here.
replaced filter, removed the head unit so just using it in the hand.
tested with a new battery, and a known good charger.

Checked and cleaned internal handle to battery connections, runs for 40 seconds then cuts out, release trigger and fire up again then runs for 15 seconds.
Diagnosed main unit failure, possibly motor. I think i tried to get one open a couple of years ago but it wasn't a pretty result.

Can anyone confirm they are non serviceable ?

I've never got one open before without it looking like the dog has been at it.

yes i can imagine that.
Mine looked terrible, if i remember i got it apart so far but had to shock it with a mallet.

It wasn't a good result, i strongly believe it's a waste of time as there will be no parts available.
I have the dyson field service guy coming in to the workshop next week to do a warranty job so will quiz him about it... and a few other questions - just make him a cuppa usually, if it's trade sensitive info then i will chuck him a bacon butty too.

Can't remember if they have a hall sensor?

We never repair them, we just replace the motor/body unit if duff.

Informed customer today and returned.
Did offer him a recon unit with new battery at a very good price but declined.
Will ask dyson field tech re the 35 next week, if i am in shop when he arrives.

Over the past couple of years I had five of these to look at, you need a bit of persistence they will open but their is nothing can be done with them, the pcbs are interlinked, I give the customer facts before a repair is carried out, when you suggest a new replacement body assy, some go for it and others say keep it for parts ??
