DC39 Animal - Replaced with 'Big Ball' Animal - Tools Query
« on: September 05, 2017, 04:47:37 pm »
Our DC39 Animal cylinder cleaner made a funny noise last week and then abruptly stopped and started to smell like burning.
Luckily I registered it with Dyson, and was very pleased to note that we had about 3 months left before the 5 year warranty expired!  It was picked up for repair last week and today I had a call from Dyson, saying unfortunately they couldn't repair it, but would be sending us the latest model to replace it.

So we are now expecting the Dyson Big Ball Animal to arrive tomorrow.

We looked after the old one and it has the filters washed every 2 weeks (I have 2 - one always washed and ready to use) and they always look really clogged - so must be living in the Country and having 2 cats that does it!

So when we bought it, we bought the car cleaning accessory pack - a load of extra tools and the mini turbine etc.  Unless I'm mistaken, I understand that they have changed the tool fitting system again.  So I found this link on the forum, that would indicate that they include an adapter with it.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow when the new one arrives, but if not, is there an adapter to fit the older tools stated above with this new model?

There should be an adaptor in there as far as I know.

We would welcome the update as to if there is though when you get it, as people ask this.

Will do, I should know tomorrow.  Dyson's site doesn't mention it, but to be honest, there are a lot of tech. problems there at present and not a lot works.

I should also mention that I was thinking about ringing them up and asking to pay the going difference between the replacement they are sending and the 'Cinetic' version.  I quite liked the idea of the no maintenance and no filter model - but, after reading on this forum about the issues with no filters - and given the amount of dust we have, I think I could have shot myself in the foot if I'd gone ahead.  I think it better to stick with the filtered model.

Well, just arrived and sure enough the following adapter was included along with the following message:
"Congratulations on buying the latest Dyson Technology.  This adaptor makes your new machine compatible with older Dyson tools and accessories.  Just a little thank you from us."
