Converting European market sebo x4 to work in North America
« on: February 06, 2018, 01:00:55 am »
Hi all!

I was wondering what parts need to be swapped out from a European market X4 to work in Canada? We use 110-120v power and a different plug. From what I can tell so far I need to swap out,
-vacumm motor
-powerplug/cord

I believe the control boards are compatible with either voltage (can someone confirm).

Anything else?

Thanks in advance!
Vince

Welcome Vince.

You wont need to swap the cord, just change the plug assuming you can get ones over there you fit yourself to the cable.

The motor, yes.

I would have thought both boards, but where did you find out they work with both voltages? You may be right just I've never heard that. You'd need the board numbers from a local 120v machine to compare I guess.

thank you for the reply - I looked at some replacement part pictures and on the controller board itself it says 100-240v. I have attached an image. i didnt know there was a power supply board but i see that now. I will probably need a new one for that appears to be voltage specific

Hmm, you're right! Looking at the one I photographed for our site >>here<< it too says 100-240v.

Now generally speaking, one must replace like with like with boards or the two won't work together.

I'd take a look at the power board on the one you have and see how that is rated. That too might be 120-240v, if so you're golden.

I personally own an older X4 that I could crack open to make sure. Both boards together new are under $50.00 so it's not a large outlay by any means.

The North American pricing is double what you Brits pay if not more so buying a UK refurb and converting it would save me hundreds of dollars.

Thanks again for your help.

I think you'll find they're much more than that.
