DC04 Suction in vacuuming position
« on: November 02, 2017, 12:46:52 pm »
Hello,

I get little to no suction from the brushes when my DC04 Standard (yellow/grey) is in the vacuuming position. If I lift it so it's only at a slight angle (almost upright) it has great suction - but it's difficult to manoeuvre like this!

I have checked all airways and hoses, brushes spin correctly, belt OK.

It sounds to me very much like the lower hose has damage, but I've had it off and inspected and it looks to be in good condition.

Any other suggestions please before I'm forced to replace him?  :'(

Cheers

Hi there,

Sounds like the lower hose does actually need replacing. This is a springy hose and it's designed to push the brush housing to thefloor for optimal contact on all surfaces. If you take it off completely, is it curved rather than straight?

Thanks both. It is very curved! And pretty disgusting looking! Given this and the many other issues, I think it's time to start looking for a replacement. I like the look of the upright Sharks.

No problem.

If you want a bagless vacuum, I'd strongly  suggest that you stick with Dyson. Other bagless machines just have their own flaws

As parwaz said, only real decent bagless vacuum is DYSON and Sharks I dislike a lot!, your better off, and cheaper buying a new hose for your dc04. then it should work like new again.
If you are certain you want a new vacuum:
Gtech is a big no!
Shark, there okay, but I highly dislike them
Hoover, Just some cheap chinese rubbish with some writing saying HOOVER - and as such won't last two mins (As my nans prooved which no sits in the back of my shed waiting for a hammer)
Vax - Just another, but worse Hoover. Noisy, terrrible design, the list goes on.
A proper bagless vacuum is a Dyson. Ive only used a cordless one a bit, but there flamin good! Or there is my preferable option, Buy a new hose for your DC04. DC04s are built to last, should anything ever go wrong on them theres plenty on here for you! including the famous Beko1987 full stripdown and rebuild threads! there really good for telling you on how to fully stripdown and rebuild, your DC04. My favourite dyson is the DC04 (Along side the DC14), they do the job, no fuss, get it done brilliantly and just last forever providing there looked after!

Option is yours, but as I say; I suggest buying a new hose for your DC04s, You could try a Shark if you really wanted, but I think you will be let down by it pretty soon, the TV ads make them seem a lot better than they really are, and such I am planning on creating a video arguing these brands such as GTech and Shark advertisements on how it IS wrong.
Hope I helped,

On another note: out of curiosity, the wand on your DC04, The bit you hold is that grey, or yellow? the bit infront of the colour cap where the tools go? I like dating Dysons, and thats an easy way to estimate a DC04.

Consider Sebo.

That too. They are like Morris Minors. You just keep mending them.
