DC14 Broken at bottom of Duct assy
« on: November 11, 2017, 02:45:46 AM »
I recently picked up this DC14 Origin which seemed to be in reasonable condition.
However on closer inspection I've found the bottom of the duct assy is all cracked broken and a lot of pieces missing (see first 2 pictures). What I was hoping that someone could add some photos of how long the inner pipes are around this section of the second photo. As the inner tubes are what is busted and broken.
As I'm not too sure I have enough plastic left to support it.
Due to theses broken inner tubes there is absolutely no support for the vacuum to stay upright.Once you remove the cyclone and canister it wouldn't take much for it to fall over.
I'm just trying to work out if it's worth saving or whether I just scrap it for parts.
Please help if someone is in the know.

Try pipe weld, worth a shot.

A whole chassis will be under a tenner posted, their all the same colour too... I wouldn't bother gluing it up though...

No they're not; there are three colour variants:

  • Dark Steel 908656-02
  • Steel 908656-01
  • Iron 908656-05

Steel is the cheapest. A new one is 42 delivered.

One could make a brand new DC14! 8)
DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.
