Dyson DC07 Switch Wiring
« on: April 13, 2011, 10:13:16 am »
I have replaced the motor, I disconnected the wiring loom, but don't know how to re assemble. I have the wire coming direct from the motor, the the cable from the power, but there is only one connector, the switch its self. Is the a diagram of the wiring for the switch?
many thanks

You want the wiring where the switch is then? Is this a UK model of machine or not?

Yes I think it is the English pet blue vac with a clutch, I could not get the the wire to reach the switch terminal. so I soldered a 2" piece of wire, so that it now reaches. and working, could you help me with this.

On the top hose top connection, On my other Dyson the hose slides down the pole, On the 07 pet vac it is solid. and wont slide down the pole, causing a kink in the hose, cutting off suction?

Thank you

dyson 07 wiring is very simple leads just snap together via insulated spade connections my guess is youve got one that has had the  mains lead cut off and are trying to retro fit lead off another machine.   a word to the wise eletricity can kill.. ( give it to somebody who knows what their are doing)

I had a DC07 apart today, here is the picture of how the switch wiring should look:

You will see the neutral blue from the mains cable connects to the neutral blue that goes to the motor via a sheathed connector. The brown live from the mains cable goes into one side of the switch, and the brown live that goes to the motor plugs in the other side of the switch. Thus, only the brown live is switched. The blue neutral connects straight through bypassing the switch.

If you cant get the original wires to reach the switch they must be routed wrong.

Doughnut is right though. Unless you can figure it out easily using the above info, let someone who knows more about this stuff take a look instead.

As an obligation, I guess I should point out that the wiring above is for UK market machines; US and other non-UK models may differ.
