« on: April 28, 2011, 08:45:44 am »
Can anyone assist me with instructions on how to change the swinging valve mechanism on the DC07? Its part number 45 on the exploded diagram for for chassis, frame, switch and electrical assemblies.

Hi and welcome to the site.

I'll try to grab a few pictures while our tech is doing a DC07 tomorrow and put some info together over the weekend for you.

Dyson call this part the "carriage" unit. Swinging valve mechanism probably makes more sense though. Its not as straightforward as you might hope, but here goes:

Start by removing your sole plate:

Then remove your brush roll:

Next remove the brush roll housing:

And next remove the two plastic circlips each side of the main body:

Now remove the clutch cover (if your machine has a clutch). The arrows indicate where the screws are, and the lower photo shows it coming off.

Insert your screwdriver here to dislodge the mechanism:

And the unit can now be removed and split from the part with the two holes in that clips into it:

Now you must get it back together again.  ;)
