And screwed down



Off to one side



As it's time for the hood!





First on is the release pedal, and the rubber pad needs fitting to the pedal



Then fitting to the machine



Rear wheels



Time for the height adjuster knob now



And bracket

Then it's time for the hood to be lowered down over the body of the machine



Then the two pivot points can be done up



Bag door now



Felt pad in, as well as the two felt strips that run up channels on the side. One of these was half out, which I think made the adjuster knob harder to turn



Diverter valve fitted



And the suction ducts screwed down


The knob can be screwed down now



Then finally the bag door can be screwed onto the main machine

Then the wonderfully clean external hose can be fitted

And assembled fully with new bearings

External hose pushed fully home



Up top now, and the cable is fed through the strain relief and screwed down



And fitted



The handle can be fitted and screwed fully home, making it less wobbly than it was before



Cover clips on over the screw it seems



And by jove it's done!



That would have been the middle of October going by Charlie's birthday balloons, and come November I chose it for that month's vacuum!

Where it served a DC04 it's arse on a plate!

Well, deeper pile carpet like my mums anyway. I did find a toolkit from my Hoover Freedom fitted it though, which was nice



Teamed with a Hoover BrushVac they make a good team!



However, November turned into December

And it was time to not use it anymore, however... In the intrim above, a chap called Jae from America gave me some lovely detailed instructions on how to REALLY take the motor apart, so apart it all came again!



Up top first



Straight in with belt spindle removal



Then off with the carbon brushes



Smash out the 3 pins on the other end of the motor



Then lever the end off

But (and I missed this last time), lever on the first bit, not the second and BOOM, out it all comes!



All laid out! Sadly the upper hidden fan wasn't really dirty as apparently they can be



But meh, we've come this far!

Inside here are 2 nuts



Undo those and the top black part falls off



These two springs keep stuff under tension, and releases the coil



I could also now get to the top bearings and pack it full of grease



Lovely! It's not done until it's messy!



That done, it can all go back together



With another blob of grease on the other end. I know it should be oil as it mates with a sleeve bearing, but I could not find my oil at the time...

Job done, back in the motor goes!



But before I screwed it down, I had noticed that the suction from the tools was pretty lacklustre for it's wattage, so I helped it along by sealing up the motor housing with silicone



And then the inner suction channel



Just in case, and it did improve it! The motor sounds smoother too, although not quiet and low pitched like an equivilant dirty fan would be! It did knock the high pitched whine off though!

So there we go, although I'm not finished with it yet, I am for now! Bye

Bazzing strip down. 

I wouldn't mind a mint one of these in the museum actually. Shame about that front grille.

I spy a Dyson brush roll removal tool puller being repurposed in there..........

Yes, it's a shame about the grille, but the price was fair, and it's just one of those things! Do have a plan to improve it some more though!

Yep, the puller of the belt tool was just pointy enough to tap the 3 locating pins out!

I suppose a replacement front panel is like a left hand rear molar on a chicken to obtain?

Intact, yes. Broken but with some fins remaining, and a bit of cut and shut, in progress!
