DC39 Power Button won’t stay on?
« on: January 03, 2018, 11:48:42 am »
Happy New Year everyone  :smokin:

So last night vacuuming as we do go to use my
DC39 and the on and off button would not stay down
For me to get a vac round the flat 👎🏻😆

My machine is under warranty so I gave Dyson a ring last night was
On phone almost 30 mins I tell ya almost threw phone down waiting that long 🤪

The lady comes on I tell her my problem and she said it needs a engineer so she’s booked it in for Friday for me she mentioned something about a possible fee I’m like ok but never questioned it Eastenders was coming on I wanted to get of the phone 😂

Does anyone know what I’m to exspect from this call out!? If under warranty it should be free? I understand I might be made to pay for filters etc but my filter is fine a bit bobbled but
Got good suction on my vac as ever!

Lmao roll on Friday anyway 🤣

If its under warranty, tell them you are paying nothing and dont succumb to the hard sell of new filters or machines. They should fix it.

The Dyson engineers are salesmen nowadays and their job is to get you to spend money while on site.

@Mvacs,

Exactly what I going to say he’s been and gone apparently the motor
Was wet I have no idea how but it’s stored by a radiator so I guess that’s leaked
He nearly wrote my machine of cause of it but then he went away and came back
And said they’d fix but do normally do so he’s gone away to get new parts for it and will be
Back next week will see if I’m charged I guess hope I’m not though

Looks like I will have to get some waterproof matting down incase it happens again or move the vac!

I wish I hadn’t sold my DC04 and Karcher I gotta go back to the old fashioned broom and dustpan and brush abit 😂👎🏻

The engineer should have discussed anything he'll charge you for before replacing them, so he can't fit them without you agreeing to it

So I believe you may have it sorted :) Whenever the warranty runs out, holla at me, as I'm in Birmingham, I can repair/have a look at them for ya

PS nice to see you back  ;D EastEnders-good taste Kerry, it's been mad on there recently hasn't it? ;D

Nice to see you back!

Agreed, dont pay if it hasn't been agreed, and it hasn't. The water lark may be a tale to try and extract money later.

Nice to see you back!

The guy didn’t say a lot but looked annoyed at the water
And prob wanted to right it if was only till he got of the phone
He said they’d fix it for me he had it in bits all over the floor and showed me
The water the post motor filter was filthy and wet he said if it
Was prob used it could of blown perhaps the button going on it helped!

Will see what happens this week with it it’s been working perfectly no issue
At all pretty much like that model think the newer ones look pretty tacky looking now
Cheap too but can’t go wrong with that 5 year guarantee 🤓

I will give you a shout if it packs in again I doubt it will touchwood though 😆

Eastenders is abit bonkers it was like watching a cheesy film at Christmas wasn’t it
Who’d know Ben took the cash 😆 I thought Shirley took it 😆😆

But I did see the water and the post motor filter was filthy
Let you know what happens end of week ☺️

For water to get into the switch and damage it I'd expect other parts of the vacuum to be water filled tbh, I mean there's hardly much of a gap around the red switch pedal anyway

If it were to go into the ball wheel it wouldn't matter it's just a wheel TBH, the water is probs a coincidence I reckon, post filters are usually black from the black carbon dust coming from the motor, no need to worry there

Watching Enders recently was a bit like Mrs Brown's boys :)) They are throwing in cheeky bits of comedy in too now aha, I was surprised it was Ben as well, thought it would have been Shirley as well tbh, or Jay  :chuckle:

They should deffo repair it now if they said they'd get it repaired, if the next engineer comes and he changes his mind he can't really since you've been told it was going to be repaired anyway, you've been assured
