Suspected Dyson DC35 battery or charger?
« on: March 06, 2018, 11:20:16 am »
Hi,

I have a Dyson DC35 which has recently died, press the trigger and it does nothing.

When connected to the charger the green light on the plug comes on, I have left it charging overnight and noticed the green light on the plug is still on in the morning but the vac is still dead. I am pretty sure the green light used to turn off when it was fully charged?

I have swapped over battery with a friends one and my vac comes back to life so it looks to be a battery issue. However, before I go out and purchase a replacement battery could it be the charger at all?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, you need to first test the charger with a voltmeter. Or try to charge your friends machine up on your charger if you dont have a voltmeter.

I'm no technician but just checked with a voltmeter. Negative on the outside and positive on the pin in the middle it measures 18.3v, avoiding the edges.

Next, positive on the inside edge and it measures 25.9v.

The plug has 2 readings 16.75v and 24.35v so I take the charger is ok.

Based on that, I'd be buying a battery, indeed.

Avoid the non-genuine ones, they are not much good on the whole. Bite the bullet and get a genuine one.

Thanks very much, that was going to be my next question.

Do you stock them? I require the type b battery with 2 screws. I can't see them listed on your site.

Yes we have them, we don't list them on the site as not everyone knows which one they have like you do and people buy the wrong one. I'll PM you price and checkout info now.

Even Q have withdrawn theirs due to the high amount of returns. I have yet to hear anything but tales of woe, but there are a lot of manufacturers in China. One of them will have got it right.
