Is there any one out there who truly hates their Dyson?

They are easy to take apart if you know what you are doing.
The cyclone on the dc14 is also one of the easiest to disassemble.

I used to work for Eletrolux in the R&D department so I know a thing or two about quality of plastics.

This may sound like a stupid question but do you store your machine anywere near sunlight or a heat source ( in a cuboard next door to the hot water cylinder)

long story but we had  case of brittle plastic due to this on a eureka.

I have a full vacuum shop , new and refurbished Sale , repairs and spares
We sell all type of vacuums but its still my choice to have  a dyson at home , we actually have 4 now

Weve had Kirby's , Royals ( the metal ones ) miele , aeg and many more and I still use a dyson. I think they offer the best value for money

dysons are not cheap here either costing 5 times what a Electrolux or hoover would cost

Don't destroy your dyson get the part you need from Mvacs and get it back to life

Here in the states it is a whole different story. Dyson refuses to sell the end user any parts, and wants you to either send them the complete unit, or to go to one of their very few Certified Dyson Repair Centers so that they can do it for you. No matter how simple the problem is. I find this business decision to be poor at best. I am not saying that these facilities do not provide a valuable service, what I am saying is that when it is not necessary, there should be an easy and affordable alternative.

The easy and affordable alternative is the sector of the market we aim to fill.

The "official Dyson dealer" is about four miles from our shop. We drive by there daily with deliveries. Despite his window full of over-priced, slightly elderly, gleaming machines (that have the wrong colour bits fitted  ) we wonder how he keeps going. There is never a soul in his shop! 

I cant imagine where they all went instead....... 

We do what we need to do to get what we need. We sell Dyson parts genuine, used, reconditioned, after-market, grey import, etc. We are not hampered by the restrictions of being a Dyson "official dealer" which from what I have read, and from when they asked us to be one, seemed to carry too many limitations for my liking. I am an exponent of the free market. I dislike price controls and unnecessary stifling of parts supply. When I encounter that, I go out of my way to buy 500 of the item from somewhere, in order that we have ample stock at a good price.

Claire in our shop groans when another courier staggers in with heavy boxes of something obscure that I bought from somewhere that she must find room in a very small shop for.

Last year, I asked Dyson if they would supply us certain parts direct. They said no. The part I actually wanted at that time, we now have about six boxes of, and we sell them for less than they won't sell you one for.

When I worked in electrical retail, there were plenty of customers who adamantly refused to have anything to do with a Dyson. Trouble was, every other bagless cleaner on the market at the time was utter garbage (anyone else remember the Hoover Vortex and Electrolux Cyclone Power?), and it took a lot of work to convince people that they REALLY didn't want either of those. Those who listened usually ended up with a decent quality bagged unit, and the only time we ever saw them again was when they popped in to buy bags twice a year. The others would normally be back after a couple of weeks, carrying a dust-caked "imitation Dyson" with them. Despite being warned at the time of purchase they would need to keep on top of filter maintenance, none of them ever did. You wouldn't believe the screaming matches they threw after being told such abuse was not covered under warranty, and they wouldn't be getting a refund.

Anyway, while there were indeed many folks with genuine cause for complaint (the DC01, for example, was known for being messy to empty and easy to block up), it always struck me that an awful lot of these people had simply decided to dislike Dysons all of a sudden purely because everyone else was now buying them. When trying to keep up with the Joneses, you don't want what everyone else has, you want the obscure brand that they haven't heard of yet. The Which? reading, John Lewis shopper set were always notorious for this, no offence intended towards anyone who may classify themselves as such LOL. I think much of it has to do with wanting what is considered to be "aspirational" at the time.

For some reason, people drift into our shop from time to time saying these things. I am not sure what they expected to find in a Dyson shop.

Well right now I do cos we've only had it 3 years and its making a smell with a  popping noise in motor (DC 19 turbo)!!!

I think it actually is 5 years on the motor which would make sense. On Monday I will ring Dyson.

I have 5 dysons as we run a busy business. DC04, DC14, DC19, DC25 and a DC33. They are all working great. My one and only major bugbare is the power cord on the 33. It has tripped me up so many times it is now relegated to the basement. Yes I hate the 33 but love all the others. The 33 is a potential death trap. It is also very noisy and sqealy.

I think that there are many people who really hate Dyson.
Many complains that they break. Do they break? Or do people just not take care of them?
Many say that they wouldn't buy any Dyson's product as they moved to Singapore. Why? If it's good for the business then who wouldn't. So what if he voted to leave EU. OMG I don't really want to offend anyone but some people are just a bit hard to understand..
And plenty really plenty of people really recommend Shark. Does it really perform better? I don't think that it's only first week's excitement.
