Dyson DC24 all surface model

I have a DC 24. A while ago the brush head stopped working and would not reset using the red button. I purchased a genuine Dyson replacement brush head and fitted it. Second time of using the cleaner there was a flash in the brush head & it stopped working and would not restart. There was no red button on this unit. I checked the output at the 2 pin socket where the brush head connects with the cleaner body and it was a constant 230v AC. It was only used once on a lightweight carpet in a small bungalow. No threads, hair or anything else blocking the brush bar. Any suggestions as to what caused the new brush head to fail so quickly?

This was a brand new head and not a "reconditioned" one or similar from an ebay seller or suchlike?

Yes. This was a brand new, genuine Dyson head, sealed in box from an Amazon supplier. I returned it and got full refund but am wary of buying another in case there is a fault elsewhere which caused the head to fail.

There was a batch of faulty heads around not so long back.
I can't think of anything that would cause a motor to flash in a new head as long as the 230v supply is constant when the machine is reclined and wiggled about. Sounds like you got a faulty head.

Thanks. The head was cheaper than on a number of other sites so maybe dealer had acquired suspect batch cut price. I will order another through link on here.
