Dyson CR02....
« on: March 07, 2018, 05:24:23 AM »
I am so upset that my much loved dyson washing machine has broken down!

I have cover, so engineer is coming on Thursday.

The drum has got stuck and will not turn. It is 13/14 yrs old and had itís contra turning drum turned off some 6 yrs ago for the extended drum life.

I love my machine!!!!
I donít like to appear ignorant when unknown engineers come so have been reading up inc on here.
I learnt about the spider part breakdown and stopping drums turning.... is this worth the coat hanger picking out of bits....pursuing as a lasting chance of repair? Or is this considered a temporary repair?
Itís been well looked after .

If they write it off...... what comparable machine is a good choice. I need the longevity and trust plus the steel huge drum size? Suggestions please?

If it is written off does anywhere still want them for collecting or parts etc ?? I am loath for it to be buried😌. I wanted my 20 years out of it!! :'( :'( :dead-dyson:

Thanks anyone out there!!

Only anyone who knows about those machines will be able to fix those now. Anyone else will tell you its written off.

There is a good chap in Birmingham we know of. Where in the country are you?

Nowhere near Birmingham! Iím on the Essex coast. The guy that came out to it about six yrs ago was pretty knowledgable and popped on all the parts he could whilst with me knowing that parts were going to be scarce. Iíve no idea whoíll come out this time.
I donít want to let go! :snivel:

Well, no flipping engineer arrived today for  my dyson. They denied all knowledge if you believe them, insurance company was not impressed who booked them in !

Anyway after a long phonevall I now have to wait until next Friday, for them to look st it.

It is possible to have a phone number for the Ďdyson parts personí so I can try to source whatever the engineer might need whilst he is here next Friday.?
Itís just they say zero parts are available to them?

I hope thatís possible
Thank you for your help!

I'm not worried for washer stuff - we don't have that much. He'll sort you out.

Thank you.

Should I have to go for a new model, do you have any recommendations?
I need v large drum, longevity, wide front loading minimal repairs. (Must be able to handle king size duvet)
I am disabled so ease of use rather than hard to turn dials!

I really do appreciate your help. I cannot get out to browse so itís so difficult and Iím sure you would know which are no god and which rarely break?
Thanks again, sal

Oh and an easy to reach coin trap thingy!

The best washers I have encountered are Miele, Bosch, Neff and AEG in no particular order. Miele win the Which? satisfaction polls.

Avoid anything Samsung/Hoover/Candy or anything made in Turkey or similar would be my advice.

About the big drum and other requirements, I am not sure. Others here may know more or it would just be research.

But on washers, I'd certainly go German.  :icon_nod:

We have had 3 BEKO and they are great

AEG are Electrolux (Zanusse)

Neff belong to Bosh but most bosh washing machines are made in Spain not Germany.

Miele are good, but try getting parts or info out of warranty.

Lots of good info here in the help and advice section.
