It all depends on your needs.
a smaller dyson like the 24 may be cheaper on the wallet but if you stay in a large house with pets and kids it will not last as long as a dc14 for that matter.

What are your needs in a vacuum , how  big is your house , carpets/hard flooring ? pets ?
Do you stay in the city or country ?

What country are you in? Models can differ across the pond.

Also, as VCH said, what are your needs? Do you have six kids, five dogs and twenty rooms? Or three rooms and a bungalow. Do you have mostly carpets or hard floors, or both?
