Numatic Henry HVR200-12 - Stripdown and Refurb!
beko1987:
A while ago now, one of my youtube followers, who lives quite close to me offered me a scrap electrolux I needed for parts. So I wandered over one lunchtime, shook his hand, and took my loot.
Upon turning the car around to leave, I spied something familiar in the garden of an abandoned house. Ditching the car, I went in for a closer look, and came out with...
A Henry! Poor thing was not happy
And full of water, as I found out when I picked it up and got a soaking wet foot...
He dates at week 3 2015
So let's have a look at what we have. Turns out, after a week of drying out that he is dead. A repair of the switch and a new plug has him working fine!

Marvellous! So, one night I got the stuff ready for washing that could be washed
The cracked hose cuff came off
And went in the recycling
I scraped the worst of the crap off the motor sound deadening
Took one last look at the filter
beko1987:
And set the washing machine going
Onto the main job
After the initial vac out the bin still looked horrible, but it was dry now at least
The hose port/his nose pulls off
As does the 3d face
I did try and get the front wheels off, but they didnt want to know. So I spent 15 minutes cutting the thread out that had wrapped around the castors
The one wheel cap popped off
And both rear wheels unscrewed and split
Motor now
beko1987:
The outer shell comes off with the 4 outer screws
And the cord reel lifts out
Under the cord reel are the 3 screws that hold the top trim on
With that off, we can see the cable terminals. Remove the screws and lift the cable and thermal cutout off as one!
The winder knob pulls out (mainly for a drop of grease rather than cleaning)
Now for the wiring. A cover covers this, and pops off easily
Unplug everything and remove the switches
The 3 inner screws underneath the main machine remove the motor assembly from the bottom chassis
The clips that hold the 2 parts of the cleaner together can be removed
beko1987:
Lamb motor
Removed lamb motor
The inner motor surround lifts out
Making the cord reel contact slip rings easier to spot and remove. The contact rings push out with a careful prod with a screwdriver
The PCB can be lifted out now
Amazingly it is not dead, these blow and kill many henries.
The wheels that help move the cord reel lift out
All stripped down, I grabbed a box that Daniel Shanks (Numaticrule29) sent me
Which contained a Handle!
Which was excellent, as I needed one of those!
beko1987:
I needed some small tools, so the shed was perused, and I came out with this mismatched bunch!
Popped the dusting brush apart for washing
I also found a wand set lying around
With that done, everything was washed, dried and polished
The rear wheels went back on the bin, although without the one end cap because finding one in blue proved impossible, and it looked OK to the average punter with a matched set of not there at all!
The bag holder and hose thread went on
On with the face and the base is done!
Up top, in goes the PCB first
Then on go the contact slip rings and wires
