DC33 no floor suction but wand works
« on: April 24, 2018, 02:55:33 am »
My DC33 no longer has suction at the floor.  However, there is still suction through the wand.  I have cleaned the brush roller and both filters.  I can detect no obstructions.  Is there anything else I can try at home, before taking it to be repaired?

Is the clutch switched on and the brushroll turning when reclined?

Not familiar with the DC33, but if similar to the DC14, then I'd be looking for an obstruction in or around the bottom hose. Follow the air path back until you find the blockage.
Also check for a split in the bottom hose.

In addition, make sure that the brushbar is in actual contactwith the floor (you need to look closely)

The hose underneath the vacuum is spring loaded, and also pushes the head to the floor

Identican in almost every way bar the cyclone and a few twiddly bits

Can you here the motor over-rev and safety valve open when it's in that position?   That would indicate a blockage.

If the tone of the motor stays the same, you've got outside air being sucked in somewhere.

Check the internal hose that runs from the changeover valve to the cleaner head, if it's properly in place and not blocked, check the changeover valve is working correctly and all its seals are in place.
