Broken latch D07 Animal
« on: May 23, 2011, 09:53:54 pm »
We have a US model Dyson D07 Animal with a broken "wand to chassis latch." The latch is broken off so badly that the wand will not stay in place. Any thoughts or any source where I could get a replacement chassis? The latch looks to be continuous with the chassis body which is a shame. Cannot attach a photo as the site states file is too large.
Thanks for any help.

Can you not make the photo a smaller file size to upload it?

You are sure you need a chassis and the problem is not with the coloured clip on the wand? I just want to be sure we are not confusing terminology here. See the parts list on >>this page<< for a representation of the typically sold parts.

If you do need a chassis, we would happily send you one, but the postage to the US would likely make that quite expensive.

I see what you mean now; there is a lump of the chassis missing.

Sears supply one in the US (part number 904884) at $139.99 - which seems a somewhat ridiculous price to me.  :o

Shall I research if we can find a way to send one to the US at a reasonable price?

Anyone else in the US who can suggest a source, or who has one, do chime in.

Ouch ! That is expensive even for a Dyson with a lot of life left in it. MVacs, I appreciate any help with a replacment part for a more reasonable price. Color is not a concern. Any other readers assistance most welcome too.
Regards, LH

Cheapest shipping I can find for that is £58. If I charged you £20 for a good used one, and 5% to cover the Paypal fee, that would come out at £82 which is currently around $134. As you can get a new one in the US for $139, it looks like it is not viable for you to import one because the shipping charges kill it.  :(

Problem is, although they don't weigh much, they are not small. And couriers charge on volumetric weight rather than actual weight.

If you were in the UK, you would pay about $35 - $40 for this from us delivered.

Anyone else here from the US know where to get a DC07 chassis there?
