HELP DC14 won't switch to barefloor when upright
« on: May 18, 2018, 07:17:09 pm »
My DC14 won't shut off the brushroll when put into upright position. I can manually change it, but it should do so without my help. Is this a clutch issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Turn it upside down and look for the plastic tab (same colour as machine) that the clutch leaver (black) is moved by, they sometimes brake if the machine has been dropped etc.

I think you may be right. Is it part  of the bottom motor casing/duct assembly?

Also, any ideas how to fix it without having to essentially rebuild the whole vacuum, because I'm really not trying to do that  :snivel:

Madrat is correct though. If that pointy piece of plastic that meets with the black lever by the clutch knob underneath the vacuum is snapped off, you could try gluing it back on. If not, you'll need a new chassis for your Dyson because it's part of the main body

It's not actually that hard of a job to replace the chassis anyway. Most of the parts pop off without any screws. Just 3 screws for the clutch cover, 2 screws for the switch housing and 4 screws for the motor unit!
