DC24 Brushbar Problem - Motor or PCB?
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:16:57 pm »
Hi all

The brushbar on my DC24 wont turn. I tried the reset button and still no joy  :'(. I stripped it down and there is a PCB and a small motor in there. I'm a TV engineer by trade so have completed checks to the PCB and all tests are OK. Is this more than likely to be a problem with the motor? I have checked your shop online but don't see them. Do you sell these?? as other places said they are not available.

Please help!!! the wife is tuning my ears into cauliflowers :angryman: :angryman:

Much appreciated
Daz

Hi Daza,

I think you are the guy who called the shop about this the other day when we had no motors in stock?

We now have the motors, I made a topic about that yesterday here: DC24 Brushbar Motor -- they cost £45 inc. delivery.

If you check the motor off the machine and it runs, the problem will be your PCB. We have those too, I *think* they are £30.

More often then not, the problem lies with the motor rather than the PCB.

I have a brush bar not working. How did you check the pcb? How would you check the motor out  - wire it up to 240v and a switch? sounds basic and tricky.

Don't do that - the motor is DC. Mains is AC.

I have a multi tester now - is it this simple - if I check for a circuit across the pins of the plug in the brush bar assembly, will it be complete if the motor is working? Or do I have to open it up and test across the motor separately?

The information I have suggests it should read circa 400Ω across the terminals of the brushbar motor if a UK machine.
