Dyson Parts Trade Deals Available
« on: June 18, 2011, 02:20:56 am »
We know a lot of guys read the forum here who are in the Dyson business. You might be market traders, car-booters, a work-from-home repairer or have a small Dyson specialist shop elsewhere in the UK or overseas.

This post is for you guys. Its hard to cut a deal with the big suppliers who want you to buy a minimum of five hundred of something to get a deal, when you only want fifty. Or maybe twenty. Or maybe five.

We are happy to make deals with smaller traders that do not seek to compete directly with us. Want to sell on a car boot sale two miles from our shop? Forget it! Want to sell on a market in Gloucestershire? Aberdeen? London? Exeter? Norfolk? Talk to us!

We have a lot of contacts in the Dyson business. We speak to a lot of suppliers in the UK and overseas. Suppliers now contact us with deals and stuff they want to clear. As we grow, they offer us deals. Three or four years ago, they laughed at us wanting ten of something. The attitude was like "come back when you can buy a hundred at a time". As a small trader, you have likely been there. We have gotten to the stage now where they contact us and ask "can you take a hundred motors at this price?" or "can you use DCXX hoses at this price? But you must buy fifty at a time!" We buy what we can, or what we know we can sell, but we cannot buy everything we are offered. Hence this topic.

If you are a small trader who wants a deal on some stuff, talk to us. Don't expect a discount for two or three of something; this isn't eBay. But if you can take ten of this, and twenty of that, and fifteen of something else we can likely make a deal. DHL collect from us every day of the week, we can send a decent sized box up to say 10-15 kilos for about a tenner to a UK standard address. (Add about £8-£10 for UK Highlands and Islands.) We can accept Paypal and Nochex but it costs us 3%-4% in fees. If you can pay by bank transfer, or cash over a bank counter, you will save that. We don't do cheques or credit. We pay all our suppliers in advance or on delivery/collection. We do not use credit of any description. You will be subject to the same terms.

Why will you do this?

Look at it like this: We get discount if we buy a lot of stuff from our suppliers. If I know a guy in Aberdeen wants 20 hoses, and another guy in Cornwall wants 20 hoses, and another guy in London wants 20 hoses, I know then I can move 60 hoses to others. If I know our shop will sell 40, I can talk to our supplier for a deal on 100 hoses. They will sell me 100 cheaper than 40. Get the idea? We all get our hoses cheaper. Our customers get a great deal because we all can lower the price by a couple of quid. Everybody wins.

How do I make a deal?

The ideal first step is to call Claire in our shop. Call her between 10am and 3pm any day except Wednesday and Sunday. Tell her you read the forum topic, and you are in the trade, and want a deal on some stuff. Tell her who you are and where you are. Give her your numbers, email address and contact info. Tell her what stuff you would like to have. We'll see if we can help. Don't expect an on-the-spot answer from her, we will likely need to confer a bit and make a few calls. We are quite busy so it may take a day or two. You could also send her an email to claire (at) manchestervacs (dot) co (dot) uk

What type of stuff?

Genuine Dyson parts are not very heavily discounted to the trade (Dyson likes their profit margin). Nor are Dyson in the habit of making deals to the trade. However, if you can order more than £500 at a time, we might be able to cut a deal on genuine Dyson stuff. Talk to us.

Anything non genuine should be fine. For example: Filters, hoses, motors, tools, anything that is after-market, etc.

Also, anything recycled that we are likely to have a few of. (Don't ask us for used DC01/3/4wands we struggle a bit for those too.) But anything we are heavy on is subject to a deal.

A mixed list will be fine too. Maybe you want three motors, four hoses, a few sets of tools, and a few other bits and pieces. As long as it's a reasonable sized trade order, perhaps £200 or more, and enough to fill a box for DHL, we'll make you a deal.

As an update to this, we were approached by one of the biggest trade suppliers in the country recently who gave us an instant account. After some argy bargy with our discount rate to haggle it down to something I considered sensible and competitive, we are good to go.

The difference is, these guys stock almost everything for all brands of vacuum cleaners and other electrical stuff. We also have the facility to order stuff and have it delivered direct from them to any address in the country at courier rates far cheaper than we could send it for.

So, if you are a small trader who wants a deal on some stuff, we can source almost any electrical consumable and anything for any vacuum cleaner, washer, fridge, cooker, dryer, etc. now and have it sent direct to you. Probably cheaper than you could get it for elsewhere. As a daft example, we replaced 20 of the the 50w GU10 spotlight bulbs in our house with some really cool low energy and very bright low wattage LED ones from this place last week. They were about £6 instead of the usual £7 - £8 each at our usual suppliers. They typically retail for about a tenner each. We saved £40 on what we would usually pay - and £80 off retail.  :o

As long as we can make a shilling or two along the way for our time, your use of this service also increases our "spend" which I can use to negotiate better discounts for us all in the future.

Speak to Claire in our shop or email us if you want to see if this can work for you. As this is an offer extended to the trade (or trade-like buyers), that means orders of over £200 and specific lists. Saying, "You know that bendy pipe on a Hotpoint washer near the pump?" will make us do this  :-\  and not help at all because we know zero about washing machines and that becomes labour intensive as we must spend time looking stuff up. You should know your eggs (and part numbers) if seeking this deal. Saying stuff like "Price me 10x HPTC00206593 adaptor vents" or "Is there a non-genuine version of Panasonic PANAMC8F96W2000 bags? - price me 25" is what we are looking for here. You get the idea........

If you are a smaller trader seeking the buying clout of a bigger trader, this may work for you.

If anyone needs a deal on DC33 after-market back hoses, we can do one if in multiples of 15.

Also DC15 and DC24 non genuine back hoses have become available.

Mixed lots OK. 15 or so makes up a DHL box @ £10.

They *all* look exactly like genuine ones.   :-X

We can also do trade deals on mixed lots of the following new non-genuine parts:

  • DC01 filters
  • DC04 filters
  • DC07 filters
  • DC14 filters
  • DC07/DC14 back hoses - all colours
  • DC14 wand tops and clips - >>See this topic for details<<
  • Green/Grey DC04 and DC07/14 bottom hoses
  • DC07 cyclone top handles
  • Brushrolls - all models
  • Brushbar removal tools - see >>See this topic for details<<
  • DC01 wands
  • DC02 banana handles
  • DC01 YDK armatures
  • DC07 workshop manuals

We can also do deals on the just-launched DC14 wand tube grips.

If they are mixed in with a trade or trade like order, we can do a good price.

We have an abundance of DC04/7/14 used and tested YDK motors right now. If any of you reconditioning guys need any, they can be quite cheap (sold on a bench tested "as is" basis) in with any bundle.

If talking to us about a trade deal, it is worthwhile mentioning where you currently source from and what you usually pay. Better still, talk to us on the phone. We are still cutting our teeth dealing with the trade, so we are on a learning curve here.

I will reiterate that a phone number is also useful; as is your website (if you have one).

The reason I mention this now, is because the last few days a fellow from Scotland got in touch with us with a random list of stuff. We offered him way more reasonable prices - based on his modest proposed order size - than what we usually charge.

However, he restricted his contact to only email and location. No number or other details. He wasn't clear if he wanted used or new stuff with some items. He wasn't clear with motors, if he wanted the excellent ones we normally supply, or cheaper variants that likely do the job that we can also source.

This resulted in us giving him a price for what we thought he wanted, to him coming back to us saying he could source cheaper elsewhere.

The problem for us was that he wasn't specific. He didn't say, "Yes, your hoses are fine but I get motors a pound cheaper from X" for example. He wasn't entirely upfront about who he was and didn't even supply a number.

We know every supplier of Dyson parts in the UK and beyond. We constantly push them for better prices based on our spend with them. Your spend amalgamates into our spend and we all get a better deal. However, we are not going to give the *best price* to someone who doesn't even send us a phone number and only wants email contact. For *best* prices, we need to be able to contact you by phone, know who you are and that you are not a messer, as pricing a competitive trade deal takes time.

If you currently buy from eBay or a similar site, link us to what you buy (so we can see what they charge and exactly what you are buying). If you are making a trade sized order, we can beat anyone on eBay with anything.

If seeking a trade deal, talk to us on the phone and don't be shy. We don't bite.

In talks with the missus on starting up a little buy refurb and sell business at our local carboots (In bucks, don't worry!), and this post is tempting!

Must resist spending hundreds of quid on shiny new stuff! Great that you're willing to offer these deals though!

Most of you Dyson repairers will by now be needing the little cogs known as 'small bearings' that cause play in the ball of the DC24.

We can do ten of them delivered within the UK for just £9.99. If you want ten, please use >>this link<<.

If you only need one, they are on our shop >>here<<.
