For those who dont know, width of cable is measured in mm. Dysons have 0.75mm, other applications may have thicker. >>Here<< is a general guide.

So here's a funny thing.

I have an appliance I want some nice looking 1.00mm heavy duty braided cable for. And I cant buy it anywhere!  :o

It's not on eBay, its not on Amazon, I can't find it on general Google. I went to a few electrical shops and drew a blank. I even went to T.N. Robinson Ltd in Stockport, which is like *the* electrical place near us. They've been there since the 1920s, I came away empty handed.

It's like iron flex but a little bit thicker. Iron flex is normally 0.75mm. I want 1.00mm - it can't be rocket science.

Anyone have an old piece that will fit my fan heater?

As every man and his dog is watching Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic and Salvage Hunters now, everyone thinks they are Drew Pritchard, and everyone is rewiring stuff left right and centre.  ::)

I can't be the only person in the world who wants a nice piece of 1.00mm flex.

Lots of people seem to want vintage style braided and plaited flex to rewire old electrical items.

Do you use this type of cable? If so holler here on the topic and we may pull some in from China at happy money.

We never had any in the shop Stu, and the shop had been there since 1948.
In most cases when i was servicing these type of heaters they arrived with twisted 3 core, all brown braid and usually red, black & green coding.

I always cut them off as they were rotten with age, and replaced with black rubber sheathed 3 core 1.5mm cores.
Told customers that was all we could do and was the safest option.
Obviously in your case you need the cable to look in part with the appliance, so off to china i suspect. Even if you did find some old stock i suspect it may be perished due to it's age. Would it have been GEC that originally made it i wonder ?

Only other option is to use some modern cable and insert it into a retro braided sheath clamping one end in the plug and the other in the cord grip inside the heater.
The only way to fail is not to try.
