Vax Air 3 Belts too long?
« on: October 15, 2018, 02:53:24 pm »
Hi All, I have a bit of an odd one today - a customer brought in a Vax Air3 in with some belts she had purchased from the Vax Website.

The Brush Bar will spin if its off the ground but as soon as it meets resistance it stops, so of course without even looking further I knew it was a belt problem - probably wrong belt and too big.

The Belts I have are 3M-207-6.5, so 207mm long and 6.5 wide. I clearly need a smaller belt - more like 190mm long but the nearest I can find is a belt for a U89 which is 201mm long.

The Machine in question is a U87-AA-B

The current belt is just skipping over the motor pulley, they are toothed belts.

Anyone else ever come across this dilemma?

We match Vax belts visually with whatever we have comparing them to the old ones.

Vax make so many machines that even they dont know what fits what. Distance buying Vax belts and parts generally is a minefield.

What an absolute pain Vax continue to be.. I found a 3m-189-6 which is the nearest out there - its meant for a different machine so we will see. ::)

Hi,
I'm new to this site but just wanted to share my experience with the brush-roller drive belt.

We have a U91-MA-B MACH AIR. A very light weight machine and very effective cleaner.

I tried to find the brush roller drive belt on various Vax and espares web pages, not successful at all.

Contacted VAX and was told that the belt is not a serviceable part (what a load of garbage) took the machine apart got the number off the belt and googled it. Straight away the very part popped up with a reference to being a VAX part. Bought it, fitted it and its working great.
