hi. I found you with a search with BING. I typed-in replace ball motor on dc24. I have several Dyson products. I have a DC14 animal, 2-DC24s for my small cleaning business, DC35 cordless stick vac, 04 bladeless fan and 05 bladeless heater/fan and have had them for quite some time, so things are beginning to need some repairs. The 2-DC24s: one needs a ball motor repaired and the beater bar won't work on the other one.
The third issue: the 05 bladeless heater/fan-the remote changes the digital speed number on the unit, but the unit keeps the same speed. Or, sometimes, I change the speed number and 30 minutes later, the unit will suddenly change speed. Anyway, I need to get one of these DC24s working for the upcoming week, so, thanks for letting me vent.

I'm also new here. Rebuilding a Dyson DC14, having moderate success so far. Now I want another! This might be a new sickness...

Having decided to repair rather than bin our DC40, which had become noisy and was smelling of ozone and burning electricals, I searched with google for "strip down rebuild Dyson DC40" and Manchester Vacs was top of the list. Our machine is now nearly reassembled with new motor, but now I need advice and information, so i signed up to the Dyson Forums. I admire your repair-and-re-use philosophy, and the friendliness of your website. Thankyou.

I have a vac shop, and major appliance business. My full time Vac guy retired last fall, and now in between washers and refrigerators, I have to repair the more difficult vacuums. Dyson fits that description. I found this forum when searching for tips on repairing a DC40. I don't wish to sound sacrilegious, but I do find Dysons to be a bit over engineered.

Yes well over complicated, soft weak plastics on some models.
I rarely touch anything newer than a dc40/41 now.
It was good years ago working on 04, 07, 14, 24,25 and 33 models so easy to repair and built like tanks.

Our DC25 brush motor stopped working so I thought I would try and find out a bit about its workings so I could fix it. I found this forum on google and read lots of threads before having a close look at my machine. Tested voltage available and my test meter read 17.4volts AC which seemed an odd figure. I took the side off and behold the broken white wire as predicted. I put a temporary join in place and the brushbar started working again so loom and suitable torx screwdriver set ordered. Brilliant! Thanks for allowing people like me access to such a wealth of information

Ball and motor bucket has to be removed, take your time and take photo's of disassembly just in case.
After removing the motor bucket you will have access to a couple of torx screws that you wouldn't normally get to, check these and nip them up.
There is a text description somewhere i did of this procedure, probably in the dc25 dept...

Aye ok.
Beko has a stripdown / rebuild post in the dc 25 dept which is very good.
People panic as they lever the motor bucket out and the wires unclip from the rhs plastic plate, but if you are careful, patient and take time you will succeed.
Let us know how you get on.
