Dyson DC25 brush not rotating

Switched on, flash and bang from brush motor area. Machine still 'working' although brush does not rotate. Brush will rotate freely by hand. Suspect when we had a water leak upstairs which came through ceiling to area where Machine was positioned that water may have got through air vent (?) to brush motor. have never taken anything apart except removing the brush for cleaning.
Have no manuals or diagrams. Would appreciate some advice.
Thanks

There is a brush motor replacement video by Stuart on the forum.
Quite an easy job to do

Thinking about it overnight, the pcb is below the motor so could have had water ingress on to the pcb.
That is more likely to flash and bang than the motor tbh.
The motor maybe ok, you could replace it and find the pcb has gone short circuit.
Maybe wiser to replace the whole head unit, it maybe near the end of it's sorry plastic life anyway ?

Yes, if water is involved I'd replace the whole head. Ours are

The brush bar on my DC25 quit turning, I cleaned brush bar and checked belt everything looked good. Brush bar still would not turn. It appears the gear for the brush bar will not turn. Do these locked down? I have cleaned it up but it will not budge. Do I need a new sole plate?

if you remove brushbar, inside the spigot there is a small torx screw, remove that and remove spigot to reveal bearing for inspection.
if it's rusty then could have seized, but does it turn with the belt removed ? if so its not that

if toothed belt is removed or even with belt fitted you should be able to turn spigot with 2 fingers.
sounds like seized bearing or maybe spigot is jammed with hair ? remove torx screw from centre and pull off to inspect.

PCB and motor together, it's pointless and frustrating trying ANY other way! DC24 and 25 have god awful head designs, their my bread and butter for repairs in my area! Many guides on these forums on how to change them!

Is that so? Man, I wish I knew that before getting one. Cheers for the heads up anyway, Beko.

Check ebay, the whole heads brand new are surprisingly cheap! The last few 25's I've charged the parts plus labour then just bought and fitted a new head and pocketed the change
