Dc14 Motor okay to use?
« on: January 19, 2019, 09:14:29 pm »
I got a DC14 motor from a scrap machine. The motor looks good condition, but on of the brushes are shorter then the other one. Safe to change the brushes and use or need to be binned?

P.S Is it safe to test the motor by connecting the motor wires to the Dyson cable ends?

Look to see if the commutator is clean, if so check it runs ok, no sparks and bearings are good. and drop some new brushes in.

Some people say don't bother replacing the brushes on adyso motor because of the high speeds they run at and that a new motor doesnt cost much either. Ive never had a problem replacing the brushes myself tbh.
