Nasty DC24 Dyson cutting corners

Looking at the list of repairs today saw DC24 sparks from brush head now no brush rotation.

Unclipped the head checked voltage from socket it was present so started to dismantle head where the reset button usually is it was blanked off.

Never had one like this before Hrrm is the reset in with the switches like DC25 on this one i thought.

No it has no reset at all not only was the motor toast but so was the small converter pcb burnt to bits.

I replaced the motor with new and pcb with the old style with red reset button.

A small mod to allow the button to be depressed and all worked well.

If only Dyson hadnt removed the reset customer may have saved a lot of extra repair expense.

They updated the PCBs a few years ago to do away with the reset button. It is often the case that the motor takes out the PCB or vice versa. Often times nowadays the only remedy is a full new head, unless like you, you have a few spares hanging around and you can revert back to the reset button type of PCB as you did.

The fix you describe is something we often do with reconditioned machines. On some levels it seems kind of counterintuitive to revert back to an older set up to increase reliability, but that is indeed what we are all doing here.

Dyson no longer supply either PCB. Until they stop making cleaner heads it is unlikely that the aftermarket will step in and solve that one.
