v8 Turbine Brush Head End Bearing

This came in yesterday customer said brush attempts to spin then stops.

Ive removed this from the motor tube housing so haven't shown everything just the troublesome part.

I've come across this in the past the end bearing starts to dry out and seize up. Normally removing dust cover spray and blow out with WD40 then applying small amount of grease sorts them out.

This one has rusted up solid so need to get it out.





Anyone ever tried to pull this apart to get access to bearing ?

I didn't get that far sadly, I broke the one I had trying to get the metal driveshaft out and went no further. I still have it though and can have a look, but the whole thing looks pressed together which means getting it apart will be fun...

Would a squirt or 3 of oil/lithium get it moving? Seems pretty accessible

Hi Beko.

I managed to get it apart with plenty of levering and boiling water from the kettle poured only on the joint that was slightly moving around 1mm,

The very end broke a little but when i slide it back together it is a tight fit so a drop of glue will make it permanent,

So got the bearing on order will be here mid week will post on here results.

Nice! That's the problem with everything being pressed together, makes it very hard to repair, but people like you get the job done! Nice common bearing used?

What I would advise to anyone going that deep is do not remove the two small screws holding the motor and metal shaft with the split pin in.

I did and had hell of a job getting motor to sit back in place it moved around 10mm and i could see the rubber O ring through the screw holes.

I could barely push the motor back so ended up using a 22mm socket with extion bar in and tapped this on rear of motor. Its a good fit and doesn't touch the motor terminals with some good hard blows the motor slid back screw holes aligned and carried on with reassembling.

It was a good fix head spins as sweet as a nut happy customer.

I did similar to a v10 head the other week and stu had to bail me out and send me a used head! I did fix it but it sounds awful now!

Glad you've fixed it, I imagine it'll be a common issue in a few years as they age

Apologies for resurrecting a necro-thread, but this is the only place on the whole of the www where I can find any info about this bearing.

I recently picked up a V8 for a good price. It's in good nick, but there is some vibration and a bit of noise from the brush roll. When I gently tug on the bristles at the non-driven end of the roll (when it's not running) I can feel a bit of play - is this normal? - I presume not. The driven end is fine.
It's a bit difficult to assess the bearing play, because the bearing is loose on the plastic shaft until the brush roll is pushed on.

I was hoping to fully dismantle the assembly to get to the bearing, but it looks like it may be a one way ticket.

I did discover what looks like a suitable part on AliExpress - has anyone ever used one?
