V6 or V7
« on: April 16, 2019, 12:43:31 pm »
I've made up my mind and I'm selling Miele to get a cordless Dyson as it is really going to be much more useful in my house with 2 cats.
I'm thinking about these two models.
Which one would you say is better?
I read that V6 has better filtration system. But I like floor head that comes with V7 more as well as its mini motorised tool. Also  V6 has a better suction, am I right?
I'm planning to buy it through Dyson Outlet on ebay.  Anyone got some experience with it?

Wow, I was wrong. V6 and V7 have the same mini motorised tool.

The V7 is a better machine than the V6.

I think all the tools are the same across the v6, 7 and 8, so you could buy the cheapest 'unit' you can with little included tools, and just buy the ones you want!

So basically I could get V6 it's now for 199 so I could get it with tool kit. Do you guys know if it use the same connection as cylinder or uprights? Or is it smaller?
I just read that the battery on V6 doesn't last very long and it kinda scares me
Can you leave the cleaner on charge when you don't use it or do you have to turn the charger off?

My v6 last longer if i turn the max option off, but tbh i haven't used it for a few weeks now.
Oh, just leave it on charge, it knows when it is charged and nothing to worry about

The v6 uses the same tools as the dc24/25/40/41, so many cheap toolkits available for small tools. You'll need the machine to come with the wand and floor head though

In the end i bought V6 from Shpock for 100£

Suction is impressive I must say. Gonna use it everyday for my sofas and stairs.
There's only a problem with the bin. It's kinda hard to open it and post motor filter kinda bothers me too. Don't know how to get to it and by the looks there's only that black thing in it.
Can it be replaced?

the bin will need stripping fully and thoroughly cleaning, i use the silicone spray lightly on all moving plastic bits inc the bin gasket.
There is a tool for the v6 i have, that removes the other bit from the hand unit, as for the rear bit i never removed mine, i didn't think it comes off ? stuart or sam will know ?

Have I don't my v6 stripdown thread yet? I can't remember but yes it is quite tricky, but not too much so

Remove the bin. Peer up into the corner of the cyclone bit and motor, and you'll see the bottom bit of a big c clip. Release that and the cyclone comes away from the motor unit. Then get your tiny screwdrivers and a beer out...

If I haven't done the write up of the refurb thread yet I've got the pics so shout if you get stuck and I'll resize them quick and pop up what you may need!

So i got to the point where I took the mesh part off

Couldn't get any further cause I don't have that screw driver so I just cleaned it. I've watched some vids on Youtube and must say that I'm not sure if I can do it. Don't want to break anything  :underchair: :boggleeye:

And now it's making strange noise .

Also is it normal that in max mode suction gets weaker when you put your hand on the tube? The cleaner makes different sound if it's better..
But when I don't touch it it stays the same all the time

Anyway, I've ordered new filters as the one that's with it seems a bit worn. It is also really dusty in there where the filter is

Mmm that is a bit of a wierd noise isn't it... But if its happy running I'm sure it'll be fine!

Pop the top off the filter and pull the inner cage out... Maybe over the bin. Then stick the filter in the washing machine with the next load of dark washing! Although their so cheap to buy now I wouldn't blame you for just buying a pattern filter...
