Why not ? lid off, watch the spring and plastic peg at the rear, gasket cover off and wash the rubber gasket too.
Don't get the screws mixed up as the lid uses different to the gasket cover.
Bottom comes off with a bit of muscle, just pour a little boiling water over it first so no lever tools required
The only way to fail is not to try.

I've putted it all together but the lid that goes on the gasket doesn't fit it properly.

Definitly! It will work much better when cleaned - besides.. If we don't take it apart, how can we clean it out for refurbishment?

I've putted it all together but the lid that goes on the gasket doesn't fit it properly.
The gasket must not be sat quite right around the lid as Ryevac said.

Can you wash the rubber gasket or not?
It's the one that sits under the washable filter.

You can wash it all! If it's a day like it is where I am where you are it'll be dry in an hour in the sun!

I've got it all back together, but the hole which holds the bin trigger doesn't properly align with the handle. Sorry if you think this is weird.

They sometimes are a pain to get the bin flap release to sit right. Try disassembling the flap release rod and then re assembling. ive had this one a couple times.
