Hi hope some one can help.

I have a V6 Dyson, The power head has no volts at all removed bin to get access to main machine no volts at all from contacts,

Does anyone know a way to split these completely down im pretty certain its going to be a damaged or snapped wire.

The vac motor spins up as it should so I know its only to do with brush voltage missing.

I stripped a scrapper before and wrecked it getting the damn thing apart. I know you can buy main body on its own but im trying to save customer some money.

Cancel the above the zero volts is in fact 0.2 of a volt this is a switching voltage correct if no load detected,

so are you suspecting broken cable in elbow of head unit, or possibly head motor gone ?

Hi Ryevac.

To be honest after pulling what i could apart spinning up brush head motor on bench DC power supply it ran . put all back together again and it still ran. im wandering if theres a dead spot on the armature in brush motor.

Im going charge the unit and soak test it see how it goes,

This hand held really caught me out I was convinced i had no volts but after checking another good machine i realised there is a very low voltage less than a volt when no powered tools connected , this must be some sort of feedback to the micro that switches the voltage on when it sees a load.
These things are getting to clever for there own good lol.

Aye ok, the load of the head motor probably just completes a drive circuit as like an open collector circuit - that way it can also sense the current in the hand unit and shut off to prevent damage. ?

I can't even remember what the motor looks like in a head unit tbh, maybe coming to the end of it's life ?
Funny when i used to do plenty of cd / dvd drives - they used to get a dead spot on the main spindle motors, i removed the motor, sprayed with servisol and then run them on bench supply both ways upto 10 or 11vdc... always worked !
