It's nut has come of the fan case. Why does this happen?

Only ever had 1 dyson that had done that.

never had it on a dyson, but had countless pansonic vacs do it

I just took the motor out and it smells VERY bad like fire and the commutator is burnt along with the carbon which have shattered. Maybe it's time to bin it. It's a shame that it can't be fixed. I know the hepa filter can't be used again once the motor has failed, but can the pre motor be used again if washed?

just replace the motor, i always bin the post filters and fit a standard pad filter - unless customer has any breathing issues.
the side filters do wash fine, but can fit a dc07 filter if required
