Dyson DC18 Motor Overheating
« on: September 19, 2019, 04:17:26 pm »
I have a DC18, where motor overheats and it shuts down after a few mins(4-5mins).

It doesn't happen immediately, brush rolls and its sound changes like it's about to die and then it'll shut off.

Cleaned all the wand, pipes, lower brush area and all filters. If I remove the whole cyclone and filter body, then turn it on there's a lot of suction on the hole which goes into the cyclone. While running, wand has very minimum suction.

I feel like, there's some blocking, cleaned the port where wand hose goes yesterday, there was a lot of debris/hair there. In order to access it, have to disassemble all the springs and torx screws, now have to assemble, is there a exploded diagram? Also, while I am at it any other cleaning I can do?

Thank you for the advise and help.

Found the blocking in the wand inlet area, assembled everything and it's a runner :)

Nice one! I had a DC18 in for repair a few weeks ago as the bloke said it kept cutting out. After cleaning the filters it at least didn't cut out, but still ran very hot. Just told him that the motor was spotless and see how he goes.

Nice easy fix for you though!

Thank you, was not an easy fix putting the pieces back together, but yes from cleaning side it was an easy one  :chuckle:
