Which Motor for DC04 Brush Control
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:31:34 am »
I have read the post on the two types of motor fitted to this model.

However my question is can a YDK YV-2200 be used instead of a YDK YV-551.  I think it can but would like conformation.

Sellers of both say they both fit the DC04 B/C so what is the difference if any apart from the price?

Cheers

On DC04's, any YDK from another DC04, 7 or 14 will fit any DC04 that was originally fitted with a YDK. DC04's originally fitted with an Ametek motor will need new motor rubbers and plastic sealing ring to fit a YDK in there.

I *think* the 2200 is from a DC14 originally (we don't reference on YDK numbers), but it will fit just fine.

Yes, Any YV511, YV2200 will fit, but a YV2200 is a 1400w so it will have slightly more power than the original YV511 1200w,
The YV511 was used on the Clutched/brushcontrol dc04 but can also be used in the nonclutched dc04
the YV2200 was originaly fitted onto the DC07 and then again used in the DC14
