Ruined DC27
« on: August 27, 2019, 08:56:35 pm »
Hello guys,
My partner's friend asked me to help with her vacuum that wasn't picking up.
I haven't literally seen a vacuum in a state like this..
The internal hose was disconnected.

Luckily the suction is really strong despite filters being quite dirty. Exhaust isn't that bad but even after 3 minutes of running is was quite warm? Is it normal, or the filter's just clogged and needs changing?

It doesn't look that bad inside the cyclone to be honest but hoses are unbelievably bad. I've checked and they don't seem to have any holes. Will washing them bring some efficient results?

I don't know if it's normal but it's also quite loose between premotor filter and machine. It doesn't lock tightly if you know what I mean, is it normal?

Luckily I managed to clean the cleaner head without dismantling it.
Sadly internal hose has a split. Do you think guys I could tape it or something

You could, but replacing it is the proper fix. They're cheap enough.
Good restoration there, it looks like new!

Looking good! I'd just stick a drop of qbond on that small split then stick it and the filters and some towels and stuff through the washing machine!

I've put it all together. Doesn't look new, the bin is still cloudy.
Although I'm a bit concerned about the noise. Is it normal? Or have I done something wrong?

Mmm there's certainly a rushing air sound isn't there, does it sound different with the cyclone off? Sounds good bar that though

It sounds the same to me.
The worst thing is that I can't remember if it sounded like this when I received it  :'( :'( :dead-dyson:
It also get hot pretty quick. Does this model have any protection against motor burn? Like will it turn itself off?

Well, anyway, I don't think the lady will mind the noise as long as it's not making any harm to the cleaner.

It's also really strange that dirt doesn't fall on the bottom. It just strangely collects there.

not applicable to air noise, but always worth removing beater bar bearings and regreasing if you haven't already ? - also the sole plate rollers can be removed and get the rust off the pins by putting them in a hand drill chuck and polished up with some wet n dry, or replace them
The only way to fail is not to try.

Block the hose and see if the suction relief valve goes off (the one by the lower cord hook) If it does, it has plenty of suction and I wouldn't worry about the hissing. It's probably just cyclone noise or something. Check the filter is fitted correctly also becuse it has a thick rubber seal around it.

The DC27 has a thermal overload cutout, so if it gets too hot, it will just switch off and won't work untill it's cooled down, so don't worry about the heat. These Dysons have high RPM motors hence why they have such powerful suction, almost as much as a 2200W Miele but at 1400W. It's a typical DC07/14 motor

Suction relief valve doesn’t do anything when I block the hose.
What could it mean?

It wants stripping down and cleaning.
