DC59 intermittent spinning head???
« on: September 06, 2019, 03:27:48 pm »
Hi, had a dyson DC59 for a few years (so out of warranty!), and recently the brush head has started to play up. It will spin for a little bit, then the machine will stop and restart but without the head spinning. If i wait a moment and restart it spins again - sometimes!

I have cleaned the head thoroughly and am not using it on a heavy pile carpet - its a wooden floor so what is going on?
I also have the animal head adapter (mini motorised tool) brush which seems to work a little better but the same is happening.

any advice gratefully received. Dyson just tried to sell me a new one.

As both heads are intermittent it might not be as simple as a new head?

It needs stripping down and cleaning properly.

It needs stripping down and cleaning properly.

Yes that worked!
thought it was a duff switch or something, but i stripped it into its various parts (plenty of videos via youtube on how to do this) and a good wipe down of each part, then reassemble. works perfectly now.

Thank you!!!

Just had a V6 with the same fault heads intermittent. Turned out to be one of the contacts on the motor unit had broken.
