« on: September 25, 2019, 03:57:16 pm »
Does anyone know how many different types of Dyson dc14 were made it would be nice to know which colours and names they put on all the different types of DC14. I have just acquired a  decent condition Dyson DC14i  its cyclone top is a dark purple colour and it also has a clutch control knob, on the Cyclone label is printed DC14i, what does the letter I stands for ?      Hoping someone can help graham win.

We did begin researching for a DC14 workshop manual once upon a time. The project was shelved, but here is the data:

Here is a list of the UK market models with main colour variants:

•   DC14 All Floors. Silver/white/amber.
•   DC14 All Floors. Dark silver/white.
•   DC14 Allergy. Dark silver/blue.
•   DC14 Allergy. Dark silver/light silver.
•   DC14 Animal. Light silver/dark silver
•   DC14 Animal. Lavender/silver.
•   DC14 Blitz It. Light silver/dark silver.
•   DC14 Full Access. Light silver/dark silver.
•   DC14 Hepa. Lavender/silver (no clutch).
•   DC14 Independent. Silver/purple-brown.
•   DC14 Origin. Silver/amber (no clutch).
•   DC14 Origin. Silver/yellow (no clutch).
•   DC14 Overdrive. Purple/silver
•   DC14 Plus Tools. Light silver/dark silver.
•   DC14 Tool Kit. Silver/blue (no clutch).
•   DC14 Vroom. Light silver/dark silver.
•   DC14i. Silver/yellow (no clutch).

One thing I found interesting about the DC14 range was that Dyson deleted their entire early DC14 range and recoloured them all so the later animal, allergy, blitz it, etc look absolutely different despite being the same thing

Except the DC14i was non clutched and the later DC14i was clutched, it just means it was sold by an independent retailer

Thanks to MVACS and Parwaz for the info re the DC14s I now know that the i on the DC14 label stands for Independent. Mine has a clutch fitted but I understand that some of these DC14Indepents came in non clutch form, I would describe the top of the cyclone colour has a deep or dark purple colour, it suits the DC14 and is not garish.
Thanks again to MVACS for the full list of DC14s for their names and colour variations.     grahamwin

The best dyson traditional upright imo.

I have one in lavender / silver - clutched, near mint, fully serviced and new motor - amazingly i have advertised it several times over the last  5 months at £45 and never had a sniff !
The only way to fail is not to try.

Is it the purple and grey one with the purple wand end or the purple and silver one with the purple wand cap and purple hose release side buttons? The type where the shade of silver body matches the wand

I preferred the earlier shiny colours to the matt ones in gen 2 (to compliment the current handheld? dc34 era?).

They are also my favourite, in non clutched form though!
